Notes: The weakest of the four that we tasted, for me and the group as a whole

Peter Lehamann Wines 2008 Margaret Semillon

Vintage: 2008

Bouquet: Restrained nose on opening and slowly opened to scents of lemon soothers
Flavour: Some pleasant sourness in this wine which showed restrained, distant lemon flavours.
Points: 85 (3+7+11+7+7+50)
Notes: A restrained wine which I brought so we could have a Barossan in the mix. It was ranked 3rd of our 4. Note it costs about $30~600Kc and the other bottles offered better value for money

Brokenwood Wines 2010 Semillon

Variety: Semillon
Region/G.I.: Hunter Valley
Vintage: 2010
Closure: Screwcap
Alcohol: 11.0%
Colour: Grey yellow

Flavour: A hint of aged tone but overall crisp, lemon flavours and long finish show a well balanced and still relatively young wine.
Points: 86 (3+7+11+7.5+7.5+50)
Notes: This was the winner in a very tight contest of four wines. I rated it second of the four.

Salitage Winery 2012 Treehouse Pinot Noir

Variety: Pinot Noir
Region/G.I.: South West Australia, Pemberton
Vintage: 2012
Closure: Screwcap
Colour: Cherry/ brown
Alcohol: 14.0%
Bouquet: Wet cow (animal) aromas stronger with secondary, underlying sour cherry fruit

Flavour: This is a full style of Pinot Noir which has balanced fruit according to the nose and some dried spices (turmeric), charred/smokey flavours, poised acidity and a long finish thanks to tannins. Big without being alcoholic in spite of the 14.0%.
Points: 88 (3+7+12+8+8+50)
Notes: Something is wrong and I have the taste for Pinot Noir at the moment. This doesn't disappoint and was a nice surprise in a recent mixed case purchase of Pinot Noir. I have enjoyed wines from this producer before. Given its relatively young age and screwcap it is surprising that it is balanced/smooth. $16.80~300Kc. Delightful.

Jedlicka & Novak 2011 Andre (Straw wine)

F. was right, we had tasted this last year when we enjoyed the bottle I gave him as a gift from my Prague visit.

It's surprising that I could forget the strong strawberry flavours with this excellent wine. M, F and I were big fans. The description from last August still works and I scored it similarly.
