Moondah Brook 2013 Verdelho

Variety: Verdelho
Region/G.I.: Greater Perth, Swan District
Vintage: 2013
Colour: Pale lime
Alcohol: 13.50%
Bouquet: Gun flint in an otherwise closed nose
Flavour: Some residual sugar gives this weight but there is a surprisingly quick finish. Juicy. Lemon and grapefruit. Ok but not great.
Points: 3+6+9+6+6=80

A rather ordinary wine and untypical of Verdelho I've tasted. Tasted on 20 March on WA Roadtrip.

Later on a visit to the Swan District, I discovered that the district prides itself on Shiraz, Verdelho and Chardonnay just at the Hunter Valley does in NSW. I tasted good Chardonnay, Malbec and Petit Verdot with the last being my tip for WA's oldest wine region

Frog Belly Wines 2012 Semillon

Bouquet: Just bitten Granny Smith apple in the nose
Flavour: Very dry, apple and lemon boiled lollies (sweets) with a hint of sourness.
Points: 85(3+7+11+7+7+50)

A refreshing wine with lovely balance for our pre-dinner (bbq) drink on 20 March on our WA Roadtrip

Shingleback 2013 Red Knot Chardonnay

Variety: Chardonnay

Nice body but not necessarily recognisable as Chardonnay (From 17 March on WA Roadtrip)
