Metala 1992 Shiraz Cabernet

Varieties: Shiraz (likely 60-70%), Cabernet Sauvignon
Region/G.I.: Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek
Vintage: 1992
Closure: Cork
Alcohol: 12.5%
Colour: ruby with particularly copper/brown hue
Bouquet: red-berry fruit, twigs/bark aromas, cardamom spice. After more than an hour, a hint of capsicum as well

Flavour: cardamom, white pepper, red berry in equal amounts. A tinge of tannin but light and elegant overall. After being opened for more than hour, it had a long, lingering finish with more prominent tannin
Points: 1st in our aged Shiraz tasting average 88.8. My score 88 (3+7+12+8+8+50)
Notes: Current vintages of this wine sell for about $15, although this is more in the vicinity of $50. It was the favourite of every person in our group although I had no idea it was so old
